Dawn studied Law while working and initially qualified as a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, before completing the Legal Practice Course to qualify as a solicitor at De Montfort University in 1996.
From 1989 until 2014, Dawn worked at a firm in the Midlands, initially as a legal executive and then as a Partner heading the Family Team. She was a Warwickshire Law Society Council member from 2003 until 2014 and had the privilege of being the Society’s President from February 2012 until 2013. Dawn was shortlisted for the Coventry First Legal Professional of the Year in 2013. She has also been recognised in the Legal 500 over the last 6 years for her work and is a member of Resolution (First for Family Lawyers).
Dawn specialises in all areas of family law, dealing predominantly with resolving financial disputes as a consequence of the breakdown of marriage or relationships. Her past cases have frequently involved complex and unusual issues and, in particular, she has undertaken work involving foreign jurisdictions, family trusts, family companies, intervener applications and pension provisions.
Having worked in a predominantly commercial/corporate practice for many years, Dawn has built up significant experience in dealing with business issues on divorce or separation as well as having working with many business owners to put in place protective measures prior to marriage or cohabitation.
Dawn is a trained and practising collaborative lawyer who always looks for the most practical solution for the client and provides sensible, cost effective and focussed advice, supporting the client through whichever process they choose to take. Dawn’s clients say that she is very approachable and supportive of them, which enables them to make the right decisions for themselves and their family.
