Katie began her studies at Southampton Solent University before finalising her studies directly with the Chartered Institute for Legal Executives (CILEx) Law School. Katie successfully graduated from CILEx in October 2016 and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in June 2017. Chartered Legal Executives are the first and only legal professionals to swear an oath on qualification.
Katie has experience in a range of areas of civil litigation including debt recovery and contract disputes and she has a particular interest in landlord and tenant disputes. During Katie’s training, she specialised in Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Claims working in a local regional firm before moving to a larger national firm. Katie also gained experience in other areas of law too which complimented her studies, including equine law, conveyancing, Wills & Probate and employment law. Katie has enjoyed supporting CILEx and advising school leavers of the alternative routes to a career in law. Having gone straight into the law since leaving college herself, Katie has the benefit of applying her valued experience and diversity when advising her clients.
Katie applies her vast range of legal knowledge to advise clients, both individuals and companies, Claimant and Defendant, in relation to disputes involving contracts, debt recovery, employment law, contentious probate, consumer credit, professional negligence, legal and beneficial interests in properties, landlord & tenant law, construction cases, TOLATA claims, amongst many more. Katie endeavours to deal with a case in a cost-effective way for clients, often considering the exploration of Alternative Dispute Resolution (such as Mediation, for example) with litigation being a last resort. However, if litigation is unavoidable, Katie is prepared to adopt a robust and tactile approach to achieve a positive result for her clients. Katie was promoted to Associate on 1 October 2018.
